Is your job a dead end?

I had a quick chat with my colleague RDH recently. As always, it took place between seeing patients, so it was quite brief.
She began, "Oh... this job!"
I didn't get it so I made a puzzled face.
Welcome to My Blog dedicated to #dentalprofessionals - #dentists, #dentaltherapists, #dentalhygienists, #dentalnurses and #dentalassistants who are suffering from #muscularskeletalpain, #RSI from working in #dentistry.
She carried on: "It's dead end, isn't it?!"
As always, we didn't have enough time to continue discussing the matter further.
BUT....
IS IT RDH DEAD END JOB / PROFESSION?
Her words got me thinking. Of course, she is right however......
I think it relates to your attitude.
If you are thinking: Oh, no...I have to go to work and see lots of patients.....
Not enough time..... Too many expectations from patients, dentists, even from us.....
Many of us are perfectionists! As a result, we often feel disappointed with ourselves due to insufficient time to complete the job. NOT ENOUGH TIME!
You can't advance in this job... There's no room for growth.
I believe this is what my colleague was referring to.
On the other hand, with a positive attitude, you would be more inclined to think:
My goal at work is to connect with colleagues and patients to improve the lives of some individuals.
Of course you can not always be everyones cup of tea. However we can all be professional and courteous.

I guess, I have no need of climbing ladder and to be honest being in an office environment prettifies me.
Everybody is different....Everybody has a different goal, wants and needs.
My colleague concluded that DH isn't suitable for her, so she opted to pursue studies in a different field. Honestly, I admire her because undertaking additional studies must be challenging.
So whether the RDH JOB or PROFESSION is a dead end job would be up to you. Choice is yours.
